Anti-skate settings can affect channel balance, but from what you describe it is very noticeable (and the fact that the earlier cartridge is not an issue) I suspect the cartridge.
Those more knowledgeable than I will be of greater help however.
I thought of that, too. Oddly enough, with the Bias 2 in place, the anti-skate is kind of weird. If I set the anti-skate above 1, it starts to distort. If I set it to 0, I get no distortion.
But it has something to do with the cart.
One very important question that I forgot to ask: Is it likely that this cartridge is damaging my records when I use it? My hypothesis is no, since the left/right output levels, as I understand, is done inside the cartridge, and not by the stylus. But I don't want to damage the wax.
A google search for this problem (something like: phono right channel louder than left), and one of the first few hits is someone with my TT (P2) with the same problem. But it looks like he tried other carts, and the problem stayed. At least for my part, it appears to be the cart.
