mmf 2.2 vertical tracking force question

so i'm getting my music hall mmf 2.2 turntable next week and thought - where to set the vertical tracking force to. the manual says 1.75, an instructional video by the manufacterer says 1.70, and i was thinking closer to 1.80g. so what do y'all recommend for this?thanks, john

I'd go with 1.7 grams, which is the cartridge manufacturer's

recommendation.

I have a stylus tracking force gauge from Turntable Basics.

But I also have a small digital scale that also works. They are about a tenth of a gram from each other.

VTF

ROFL...!

You are splitting hairs.

Anything from 1.8 to 2.2 should work fine.

Keep in mind that most record damage and distortion is caused by tracking too light.

Setting it a little heavier lets you track some defects or heavy bass without mistracking.
