MartinLogan MLT2 vs Paradigm Cinema 110 CT v3 vs Energy Take Classic 5.1

Folks ,

I have been battling with a decision for few weeks for my first Home theater system and I thought of reaching out to you to for a recommendation. Save me:-)

I bought a Marantz 5006 AV receiver and I am looking for a budget 5.1 speaker system within $1000, with which I can live with for 2 years.

These are some of the options I came up with:

  • MartinLogan MLT-2 5.1 ($499)
  • Paradigm Cinema 110 v.3 CT 5.1 Home Theater System ($799)
  • Energy Classic Take 5.1 ($399)
  • Paradigm Cinema 70 v.3 CT 5.1 Home Theater System ($499)

I listen a lot to Flamenco artists like Gypsy Kings and Armik. So I intend to buy the speakers which can reproduce clear, bright and crisp sound of the guitar. I also plan to use it to watch movies (30%). It would be great if you can suggest me one, also please feel free to suggest something that is not listed above.

I'd look into the SVS SBS-02 surround system

for $650 and an Elemental Designs A2-250 subwoofer for $350. If you truly listen to music more than watch movies then the Elemental Design A3S-250 for $350 would be a good alternative subwoofer.

SVS offers a 45 day in home trial period so you can audition

their products in your own room, with your own equipment and program material. If it doesn't work for you you are only out return shipping. Not a bad outlay for a proper audition.

Elemental Designs offers a 30 day trial period, but will extend that if someone needs a few extra days to evaluate their products.

Jackfish and others

I realized that it would be good to start building a quality system by going with a pair of good towers. The amount of reading and discussion with dealers put me on this path.

So the budget is $1200 for a pair of good towers

i have the following:

  • Bowers and Wilkins 684
  • PSB Image T6
  • Paradigm Monitor 11 v6
  • Paradigm Monitor 9 v7
  • Martin Logan Motion 12 (with proper amp and a sub)

Which is your favourite and why?

My favorite for you is the one that sounds the best

to you. That said, I do like the PSB Image T6 of those you listed. I've heard all but the Paradigm Monitor 9s and Martin Logan Motion 12, and the PSB do more right than wrong compared to the others.
