lossy compression = toy
Hey Loony- Welcome.
If you enter "Ruark" into the site search you get the following hit with the issue you are looking for at the end of the quote(below).
Sidebar 2: Rocking with Ruark
Ruark may be an unfamiliar name to many US audiophiles, but Brian O'Rourke has been designing loudspeakers for 25 years
Actually, the more entertaining Ruark is Robert Ruark...
Hi rvance, Thanks for the welcome and the info. I'll go ahead and order that back-issue. Can't seem to do it online, only option seems to be all available back-issues and then only within US, so I'll do it by phone Monday. Thanks to everyone here for all the information I've picked up so far.
Regards, Kevin Hall
Hi JIMV, Do you not like Ruark speakers? I have no interest in reading Robert Ruark's books, done loadsa hunting in Africa in 1970's, including two-legged game - war is hell, but I'm not to blame.
Regards, Kevin Hall
Do not know them BUT I have read a lot or Ruark on Africa.
Hi Kevin,
Welcome to the forum. For additional discussions about digital audio compression may I suggest that you have a glance at the "Computer Audio" sub-section which is one of the sections listed under the "Audio Hardware" section of the Stereophile forum. There are several interesting discussions and posts buried in there, including some very informative reading posted by none other than the editor-in-chief John Atkison. I look forward to seeing you there.
