Now your talkin' SRV is one of the best guitarists to ever come out of Austin, Texas.
R.I.P. SRV
Unfortunately my neighbours are home. Otherwise I'd be playing very LOUD!

I can sympathize! Last year I took a few days off from work just to relax and have the house and the hi-fi to myself. At eight o'clock the first morning, they started digging up the street with jackhammers and a backhoe. That wasn't very relaxing.

Can't tell you what an impact Bob Marley and this album had on our lives back in the day. Was privileged to see him stage-side at the Roxy on Sunset when he did the "Natty Dread" tour in '75. "Concrete Jungle" has that searing little guitar solo that just tears to the heart of his message.
I was a geeky, miserably unhappy high school kid in a very poor, rural place when Marley's Island albums first were issued. I can remember how weird it felt to be the only person I knew who had heard "Trenchtown Rock" or "No Woman" and that not only was I the only person, but no one else even remotely cared. I still don't know, all these years later, who was right.

I don't know what you're talking about, HAL. You know who was right. You were. The strength of your character was forged in that crucible of alienation and doubt. Marley touched that place in our humanity that frees us from the oppression within. "None but ourselves can free our minds, whoa!"
I go back and forth on this.
I'd like to believe those of us who are deep, deep into music are somehow better for it, somehow smarter, funnier, whatever.
But I have my doubts. There are times when it feels more like an affliction than anything else, like the simple pleasure of hearing a great song has been replaced by something more complicated and less satisfying.
s.
There are days for "Keep your hands to yourself" and days for Beethoven's 4th.
Days for "Should I stay" by the Clash, and days for Pachibel's Canon (but not many, heard it in elevators too often).
Days for "I Love Rock and Roll" and days for "Benedictus".
etc...
Nice
One of the great records from SD. I have this on LP only, and I wonder if you hear the same "lightly distorted" treble as I do. Especially audible on "Babylon sisters". A weak point in many of their LP's if you ask me. My thinking is older Neumann microphones, which were great to music, but not so great with voices.
Jazz at the pawn shop (30th anniversary edition) cd#2.

Eliot Scheiner and Bob Ludwig collaborated on the DVD-A and it is stunning.
the only version on DVD-a I can find is this DTS 5.1 Surround version. Can I play that on a stereo system?
Never mind - I went and bought it on Amazon.com. Thanks for reminding me!
Shopping on Amazon.com is usually a lot more expensive (due to toll and VAT) than shopping at amazon.co.uk, but this record is one I would love to have on DVD-A!

Jazz at the pawn shop (30th anniversary edition) cd#2.
A reference recording if there ever was one. I had the gold CD for years. Takes kindly to all manner of tweaking. There was literally no room left on the label.
Side note - I sold an original 2-LP set of JATPS in Mint Condition on the 'Gon for 130 clams last month.
Perhaps but probably only to ourselves. Without the music we would feel like worse people, but to others we are strange creatures pinning butterflies to trays.
In diversity is strength... and I won't take any disagreement!

Yeah, great cd's, even if you can't play the SACD layer. Just crank it up a lot and enjoy. It's like being there yourself.
One thing though: It's limited to 10kHz, and it doesn't bother me a bit. So why would we need 40-45kHz from speakers? (I can hear up to 13kHz)
Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks: Buckingham/Nicks

Can still be purchased on original vinyl, which by the way is an excellent recording: http://www.amazon.com/Buckingham-Nicks/d...6043&sr=8-2
For those of you who don't know it, this is a must have record, Simple as that
Freako,
You and Struts need to stop sending along all these great music choices as my wife is now threatening to close our Amzon account. JUST LET HER TRY!
KEEP'EM COMING!
Oh dear - I just sent a copy of another CD to you a few days ago!
Pls tell your ol' lady I'm sorry!
Aske Bentzon: Badminton
Again, another highly recommended record, but unfortunately it would be impossible for you guys to get it. I had to download the WMA files from a local shop over here - couldn't even get it on cd.
It's the creme de la creme of Danish musicians playing some sort of funky latin jazz. Excellent music. So, if anyone would be VERY interested....
P.S. You might be able to listen here: http://bilka.shop2download.com/m/Aske-Bentzon/Badminton/Badminton/?sku=99921&trackSku=99924
Meenal Jain, and Indian pop singer!

Say what you like, but this young girl has a beautiful voice, and the music is mesmerizing...

Doesn't that make you feel like your smuggling drugs to me while I'm at Betty Ford? Keep'em coming! Just knock 3 times on the glass and I'll let you in.
Not the first time I did stupid things with drugs ...
Texas: The Greatest Hits

(The babe on the cover is lead singer Sharleen Spiteri)
Man, do you have no shame? Thanks for the disc. Very, Very, nice. Another visit to Amazon today I am sure.
I actually have 2 more discs ready if you're interested: Paul Banks: Time Problem and Aske Bentzon: Badminton. Impossible to get your hands on elsewhere. Just say when...
Perhaps some of your pals would be interested? In that case you might burn copies for them, so I won't go bankrupt
