I haven't heard it, but while Sam was working on his review, he actually called me up -- he never does this -- and told me about how wonderful it sounded. It was as though he was trying to force me to buy it. But I think he had my best interests in mind.
He was like, "Stephen, buy this amp."
I was like, "Sam, I can't afford it."
He was like, "BUY IT."
I was like, "Sam..."
He was like, "BUY IT! BUY IT! BUY IT!!!"
And then he laughed.
I think Sam is Dr. Evil. How much is that integrated, Sam? One MILLION dollars (pinky to mouth)
Not the evil laugh, I hope. <shudder>
Just contemplating this is frightening.
It was the evil laugh. Check out the blog.
Just read your blog post, Stephen. Hilarious (& scary!)... I wish there was a way to listen to the LFD; it's strange to think that an NYC dealer hasn't thought to carry these amps. Hopefully soon.
They don't carry it because they can't bear the evil laugh. It resonates in their heads even after they go home. There's just no escaping it.
Stephen, buying that amp will save you money in the long run. No need to upgrade.
Set it, and forget it!
(I'm being somewhat serious.)
Buddha - you've heard the LFD? If so, can you comment a bit?
Haven't heard it, I just think Stephen should buy it!
Too funny, Buddha!
btw: I think I figured out one of the common denominators in ST's preference for some integrated amps: single MOSFETS per channel. He mentions that there's often "magic" in single MOSFETS (the phrase appears not only in his review of LFD, but in the Pathos Classic review also, I think). Not being the technical type, I have no idea what he's talking about. Elucidations?
