I go with NAD, Rotel or Creek (used). All very solid performers with great sound and longevity.

I like all of the brands on Doug's listed. I'd add Arcam to the list too.

Doug and mrlowry,

Thanks for your replies.

I've noted that Audio Advisor is having a "clearance sale" on the NAD - C-325BEE - Integrated Amplifier for a price of $299. Do either of you (or any other Forum members) have any experience with this amp? Do you have any thoughts on how it might match up with the PSB Alpha B1s in my small office? Is it a safe bet that it will better the sound I'm now receiving from the T-amp?

Thanks.

NAD and PSB are great partners, sharing the same PR firm, and often demo'ed together because of their fine synergy.

I'm not familiar with PSBs or your T-amp. I have, however, listened extensively to the 325 BEE via Quad 12L2s, Epos m12is and B&W 705s. The 325 sounded great with all these models...but I had a preference for the Epos.

That's a good price for the NAD and will work well in such an environment. I'ld snatch it up while it is still on sale.

I'd also think about the 30 wpc Jolida JD 1301A hybrid intergrated amp for just under $400. The preamp has 12AX7 tubes and drives a MOSFET solid state power amp. Sounds good like a good tube should.

Folks,

I'm seeking advice on an integrated amp. I recently purchased a pair of PSB Alpha B1 speakers for my office. At present, they're being driven by a first generation Sonic Impact T-amp. Most of the listening in my office is done via a Squeezebox Classic.

I don't want to spend more than $300 to $500 for the amp. I don't mind buying used equipment.

Given my current equipment, what integrated amps do you think should be on my short list?

Thanks.

I'd go with NAD although the other recommendations are solid. The used market has all kinds of goodies in this bracket and the PSB is easy to drive.

Hi, radish -

May I humbly suggest the NAD C352? I purchased it about eighteen months ago, after comparing it to the C325BEE. The C352 costs slightly more, but it's the better model, even to my inexperienced ears. The performance is certainly in a different galaxy compared to the unit it replaced, a well-regarded early 90's Acoustic Research integrated. (AR now exists in name only, producing mass-market junk.)

Note that the C352 was recently succeeded by the C355BEE.

Have fun!

Great recommendations thusfar!

I'll also add my own personal favorite, the Marantz PM 7001.
