I have been a professional in electronics - and Lead Free (RoHS) solders have been the norm for the last decade - perhaps more - for consumer gear to be sold in Europe. Chances are if you bought any electronics made in or meant to be sold in Europe it is lead free right now.
IN my experience with passive intermodulation - lead, nickel are both awful for it - and it would be highly surprising that it would "sound worse" given its inherent properties (when mu is greater than 1, you will have trouble).
I have worked with the whiskers , dendrite growth and embrittlement - and those issues were resolved awhile ago - and will require environments much more extreme than a living room to rear their ugly heads.
RoHS has been the norm for a decade - I am a little surprised you are trying to raise awareness now...
