HTPC

I have built a HTPC that I am suppose to use for watching movies and playing my thousands of MP3's, but for some reason it just sits and I listen to LP's.

Though I have to admit, having an HD feed from my computer to TV is pretty cool, I can play DVD's off my HD, look at family photos all with great quality. My ATI AIW lets me PVR and has a FM remote, I can use my USB game controllers let me play NES games. I can play Half Life 2 with crips sound. Isn't that just great, though you have to wonder how far have I diverted from high end audio..??

Re: HTPC

Dude name a good Nvidia alternative to the AIW.... Oh wait there isn't one... Oh yeah the 9800 PRO AIW ruled when it came out, with that puney 5900, what was that, yet I degress, we are on an audio forum, we should take that talk to Anandtech.

But it's coo, we can just agree to disagree, it is like analog vs. digital. Anyway, hope your having a good one jmousey!

Because the heading says "Computer Audio"? I dunno...? And hey, real men are kind to animals, in case you missed that one.

Re: HTPC

there is this new card by Creative called X-fi. seems to be ok but the publicity is too much. something must have gotten into their marketing people's head. as for the emu, i think is still 1 of the best . well thats just me

Re: HTPC

From what I'm getting (please correct me if I'm wrong) these are the ones to look at if you're on a budget (like me):
-ESI Juli@ & Maya 44
-M-Audio Audiophile 192 & 2496
-Asus Xonar D2X

I don't like Creative (but that's personal) so I don't consider their solutions.
