Are you talking about
http://www.stereophile.com/images/masterindex/ ?
That's just a list really. In fact I'm not sure that's even updated anymore sadly. The last couple of months of products aren't listed. I used to use it often to find which issue(s) a product was reviewed in and then go pull the magazine it off of my shelf.
I'd try the "Search Site" box. Type the brand name into the "Search Site" box to see if the review for the component that you are interested in reading is part of the archives. Not all of Stereophile's articles are in the web archives.
Hey , Thanks for the reply. I seem to come across this list when I'm searching for opinions on gear. Sometimes I'll get a Google hit on the article I'm looking for and sometimes I get the master list, which has no further links. I guess I assumed that, , if it is on the master list that, it was archived elsewhere,or something you had to subscribe to , great, now I've just planted a big seed in a sales manager brain ! Now if I could only remeber what article I was looking for ! Dan
Actually, I stopped updating it 5 years ago, once we had so many reviews available in the archives as it had served its purpose in the earlier days of our website. Its role has been superseded by the "landing page" for each component and article category, which includes links.
That works fine since we "flattened" the website file structure a few years back. You can use Boolean operators to narrow your search.
I am slowly working my way back, posting 8-10 archival reviews and features each month in between the current issue's contents. Almost every equipment report to 1996 and a lot from before than are available online, as are As We See Its going back to the beginning, Recordings of the Month going so far back to May 1991, interview, articles, all the Records 2 Die 4 listings, and all the columns other than Sam's and Mikey's. For those and Recommended Components, you still have to read the paper magazine.
