You're back! I hope you learned a lesson from this.
Negative input is detrimental to free enterprise and the economy and won't be tolerated. Snake oil salesman and con-men have been part of free enterprise throughout history. Your opposing views can cause people to lose thier jobs and businesses to fail. Then you and I will have to support them instead of having them supported by people with more money than knowledge.

Welcome back, DUP. Have you learned any new tricks, you old dog?

I think that many people here agree that your opinions are perfectly reasonable, but your methods of expression are undesirable.

I'm glad you're back, but might we see a new, improved DUP? Maybe just turn it down a little bit.

Let's say you're an amplifier. Before, you were cranked to one o'clock. Nine or ten o'clock would be much nicer.

Here's another one: Alright, so you're cheese now.

Before: extra sharp cheddar (Actually, I'm fond of sharper cheddar, but, I'll run with the analogy)

After: medium cheddar, perhaps? I'm not asking for Kraft singles, here. The cheddar flavor is fine, but don't overpower the other flavors in the dish.

I think I'll stop there.

Anyway, that's my piece. You're entitled to not give a flying ****, but I hope you do.

Again, welcome back. All in good fun.

Lamont, with all due respect, I believe cyclebrain's post is satirical in nature and was not meant as an attack. Not to sound like a jerk, but maybe you should read it again. I was amused.

Attacking him?
No, I'm attacking his critics. The zombie audio marketing followers.
Baiting him? Yes.
STFU? I'll take the high road here since name calling on the internet is so easy and weak.

I'm such an idiot. I've should have seen the humor in cyclebrain's post. My bad. Ooops! I've called myself a name on the Internet.

Not neccesarily so. Since my attempts at humor so very often fail in my day to day life, often getting me in trouble, maybe it's me that's the idiot.

No, your writing was well within Joseph Heller parameters. What is good for the company is good for everyone.

"But what if everyone felt that way?"

"Then I would be a damn fool to feel any other way!"

Sure you can join the club.
Which one?
Blind follower club or Question everything club?
I'm the treasurer for both clubs, so just send your club dues to me, cash please. The greater the amount the greater you're influence.
Actually the worst thing you can do is join a club.
Think for your self.

No, the "idiot" club! hahaha

Dues payable to you, eh? I've been a member of the all-day sucker club before. All dues, no benefits.

Aren't audiophile and idiot synonyms?

Wasn't it Descarte who said"I'm an audiophile therefore I'm an idiot"

or something like that

Duppie!!! Welcome back! It hasn't been the same without you. You're the lightning rod for all that ails the audio world! I'm really glad you're back because for a moment there it seemed I'd become the a-hole of the month.

I don't really think that's a fair assessment. I actually prefer the term "music lover", but then people don't know what you're talking about because everyone who is not deaf loves some kind of music. I like gear because it allows me to better experience the music that I love.

If we define "audiophile" literally, then we're left with "lover of sound". I love sound. I love the sounds that my equipment is able to reproduce. Does that make me an idiot? (I'm not actually offended, just presenting an argument).

Sometimes, I listen to music that is not my favorite material artistically, but is recorded so shockingly well that I can't help but stay seated. The audiophilia grabs me. You know, Stephen wrote a really great description of the battle between gear lust and music love in his blog. I don't recall the date, but it's a good read.

Do I spend a ton of money on cables? No, but I also don't consider those who do "idiots". A new power cable is pretty low on my upgrades list, but I wouldn't rule it out. Myrtle wood? Who am I to judge?

Appreciating beauty and doing everything one can to experience it does not make a person stupid; Rather, an audiophile is simply human.

I find your poems humorous, but that doesn't mean I've bought a one-way ticket on the DUP Express to Skepticsville. To each his own, live and let live; That's my audio philosophy. If you think there's a sonic benefit to listening naked, by all means, remove your shorts. I may not want to be there in the room with you, but you're entitled to your opinion.

peace

Eric,
Audophiles=idiots: it was just a joke.

Although Freud did say a joke is never just a joke, OTOH he said sometimes a cigar is just a cigar

And then there is Groucho Marx who , when interviewing a man who had 15 children, asked the man Why?
The man said , I love my wife, to which Groucho replied:

"I love my cigar but I take it out every now and then"

His show was subsequently cancelled by the censors.
