high - res downloads

Since this issue is entry level for me, I thought I would post my question here. In looking for the next level in high resolution digital soources to augment my CD based system, I came across the Cambridge Azure 640H music server. It contains a 160 Gb hard drive capable of storing 3K uncompressed selections.
I have never before heard or read anything about this type of unit . Are there high-res music sources out there that I can access with this type of server and pay for SACD and DVD-A downloads, or are we not there yet ?

No, we're not there yet, Ned, as far as I know. DVD-A and especially SACD are pretty tightly copy protected.

There was some talk from the Philadelphia Symphony of offering their full-resolution (24/96, I believe) recordings as downloads, although I don't believe that has yet come to pass.

Personal recordings and needle drops are the only methods I'm aware of for getting hi-res material on a music server.

Maybe someone else can shed additional light on the subject.

Thanks, Erik, for your informed reply. It will save me a lot of time looking.
We apparently have the technology. In fact, that Cambridge unit appears ready to go with everything contained in it to plug right into any audio system. All we need are the downloads. What a great alternative vs. buying an expensive high-res player and having to start another collection.

Linn offers 24-bit/96kHz FLAC downloads on its website .

Thanks for this lead. Had no idea this existed. Some nice classical selections but I'm experiencing sticker shock. Is this the future?
