We need more information. What amplifier model and sub is it that is giving the grief? Exactly how, with respects to the grief?

Most subs have LP filters in them and some have HP filters for the main speakers. Most modern AVRs have LP and HP filters as well. Can you tell us what equipment you are using?

One system is in a huge, bright, room (8600 cubic feet, concrete floors, no vertical walls). The amp is a Mac 200, the preamp is a Mac c28, the sub is a Paradigm, the speakers are KEF 107's. The other system was a Good Guys home theater lashup that's out for sale to starving college students. I'm setting up a new system in another huge room (11,000 cubic feet) and bright. Wood floors, wood ceiling, sheetrock walls. The speakers are KEF 205's. Amp/preamp - not bought. A JL Audio ub has been suggested, but not bought (People in stores are high on what they carry and poo-poo what they don't)

The system I'm designing will be a two-channel system, not an movie deal. The room for the existing system is big (8700 cubic feet) and bright - concrete floors, wood ceiling, sheetrock walls. The amp is a Mac 200, the preamp is a Mac c28, and the speakers are KEF 107's and a Paradigm sub. The new system is in an even bigger room (11,000 cubic feet) and bright - wood floors and ceiling, sheetrock walls. Speakers will be KEF 205's. Bass got lost in the existing system and I suspect it will get lost in the new system.

Here's the message: YOU NEED ACOUSTIC TREATMENT FOR THOSE ROOMS. ANY SYSTEM WILL BOOM IN THEM.

Now, as for the sub filter issue, which Paradigm is it? Many have the LP/HP filters but, if it is like my Servo-15, it has neither. What you need is a good crossover between the preamp and the poweramp/sub. The minimum is a Paradigm X-30 and better is an Outlaw ICBM. There are also appropriate sub crossovers from NHT and others.
