Those are 1/4" TRS plugs on the Echo Audio Mia, so you need a two 1/4" mono to two RCA or two 1/4" mono to 1/8" stereo miniplug with enough length to make the run between your sound card and the input speaker. Or two 1/4" mono to two RCA or two 1/4" mono to 1/8" stereo miniplug adapters and either RCA or 1/8" cable of sufficient length. But check to see if those 1/4" TRS outputs are mono or stereo. Its probably best to make your run with 1/4" TRS cable and adapt at the input speaker.

I gave my first response without finding the Mia documentation. Now that I've seen it you need a stereo 1/4" TRS plug for the sound card output jack (OUT1 or OUT2) and terminated in either two (right and left) male RCAs (Input A) or a single stereo 1/8" plug (Input B) which are the two choices for input for the Audio Engine 2.

jack,

the chord im using is a 1/4" from the card that splits into rca on the end to plug into the speakers.

i get sound from the left but not right.

i called AE again (great service, the calls get patched into the developers cell and he picked up driving around on a Sunday morning, though they technically dont on weekends!)

he had me switch the red and white ends on the rca, and i got sound from the right but not left. he said that its obviously not the speakers at this point.

ive dug around in my settings to make sure a balance setting isnt off, or that a channel is muted and i cant seem to find anything that is preventing the sound from firing on both side.

this is beyond frustrating.

Guys, the Mia is a project studio card. Thus, it has balanced outs - not single ended. The 1/4" TRS outputs are left and right balanced, not two stereo outputs.

Dr. Frager, I already explained this to you:
Previously Explained

The only potential easy work around is to use a 1/4" TR (tip/ring) plug to RCA female adapter. HOWEVER, check with your documentation or Echo first before trying this. This may connect the cold balanced signal to ground in the card. Some balanced sources cannot handle this and are damaged by this.

Elk, that explanation requires an astronaut to decipher it! lol i really appreciate the help, but can you dumb it down one level for a newb? so i need to find a chord that has two 1/4" plugs that convert to rca on the other end?

btw, i have sound, just not through the card. the guy at AE told me he would bypass the card and just go straight mini jack to pc. i did so, disabled the mia and then i got full sound.

my question additionally is this. the guy at AE said that i should consider returning the card and getting my money back . his reasoning being that the improvements of the card arent that noticeable compared to the pc's built in sound. he said in general I will not be able to heard a difference. is this correct?

also, i plan on getting AE5's or the new AE Sub next, what type of convoluted hookup requirement will their be trying to hook an additional set of speakers up through the card or through the current pc setup. the card doesnt have another set of 1/4" jacks and my pc has a single mini-jack output for audio i believe. im wondering what additional wiring ill have to do then.

It is confusing at first. It isn't really as hard as it sounds but it takes a bit of effort at first. Do some Google searches and see what you can find. You are connecting balanced audio output to an unbalanced audio input. (Don't worry about getting a transformer - this is not necessary here so ignore all such references.)

What you may need is to create the connection illustrated in #10 of this document:

Balanced/unbalanced connections

The Echo card should sound vastly better than the built in audio.

(Elk has an amazing idea! Read the manual!)

NEWSFLASH!

I just looked at the MIA's manual. Look at page 10. If your manual is the same as that on-line, it states:

"Analog Inputs and Outputs

Mia has two analog outputs (OUT1 and OUT2) and
two analog inputs (IN1 and IN2) on the back.
The input and output connections can accept
balanced or unbalanced jacks via
