I am thinking of buying the Parasound Halo pre-amp and amp and would like to be able to listen to cds, as well as hooking up my Ipod and laptop PC to be able to listen to files I have on my pc and external hard drive- what other components would I need to be able to do this easily but have good sound quality? The files I have on my pc are mostly wav./ flac / or flac-HD
A DAC between the CD player and the Amp/preamp. A iPOD dock like a Wadia i170, a good cable between your PC and that DAC, and good music software for your computer (if a PC, I recommend J-River without reservation...if a MAC, Pure Music software)
I have a PC running Windows 7- presently using Winamp or Itunes-Winamp plays flac directly without converting--So how would I hook-up the Wadia and would I need 2 DAC's -one between CD and Amp/Pre and one for the PC/ DAC you mentioned? And how would I hook all of this up? sorry If i appear to be repetitive- am new and want to do it right the first time.
