Hi, Ergonaut, I wish a speedy aural recovery.
As to your questions, I have had the whole Miss Univers pageant, naked, in my listening room. Let me just say that it's probably a good thing that Televisions don't carry images two ways. (That's how you meant it, right?)
I have easy access to an audiologist, so I get to play with those measuring devices all the time.
I have a cold this week, as well, and this morning, my left ear was 5 dB down vs. my right ear at 1000 and 2000 Hz. I also have a slight shift toward negative middle ear pressure on the left, differing from the right ear by 40 daPa.
Bilaterally, my auditory threshold at 4000 Hz is 5 dB "worse" than usual.
All this from just a minor cold bug!
You are right, we are delicate little machines when it comes to our aural acuity.
Add to your list:
Slugs
Nipples on men
Wildly varying hormone levels in women, that seem to fluxuate daily
Seriously though, Ive noticed foods to affect hearing too. Too much red wince seems to dull not just the senses overall, but hearing in particular. I've heard too much coffee can do that too, but I haven't really noticed that. In Stereophile reviews it seem that most reviewers have items long enough to postpone doing any serious evaluation until a bad cold etc. has passed.
What's wrong with Sinclair computers?
Death is a pretty useless thing too. Let's abolish that.
And watch the billions of pounds of bugs pile up around us.
This just occurred to me as it was something I was conscious of when I went prezzie hunting the other day.
Ever try driving a car when you are Sneezing a lot??
Ah. I get it. You are in the "land of the tiny integrateds". JA land. Over here(?), Sinclair made the world's tiniest useless computers.

A little something for either Sinclair, Nano-silicon-lithium batteries with 10 times the storage:

Not anywhere as good as the gold (or just about any one of the PMG group!) sub-nano (superconductive) particle size based Ruassian super capacitor, with 900 times the storage of a regular cap, with 10 times the speed.
You might choke on the price, through. THe PMG based ones, that is.
As for semi-superconductive carbon nano-tubes, you can buy 5-10 grams worth for about $100, these days, in about 10 different places. Easy.
The world, it be a'changin' for those who are paying attention. Gotta stay ahead of the curve.
I think I have a new product that will take the audio world by storm:
The ear vacuum washing system.
Operating on audiophile grade batteries with a filtered built in charger this class A rated device produces 10 watts of cleaning power in class A mode. Blackgates abound and ensure an effortless sense of cleaning ease.
This is an indispensable tool for the serious audiophile and produces an upgrade far exceeding it's modest 10,000.00 price tag.(intro price only)
