"So thank you Chris of Pyramid Audio in Texas, one of three authorized repair facilities for Harmon Specialty Group and thank you Harmon Specialty Group for making me feel the proud owner of truly special, high end, home audio equipment"
you're welcome? lightning struck jobs are the most difficult, compounded by a custom IC that was no longer available. I even went so far as to purchase a used PAV just to get the parts I needed. Chris
Usually because of the labor rates here in the U.S. compared to manufacturing rates overseas, it's cheaper to replace than to repair.
Have you contacted the power filter company about its failure to protect your equipment?
Many power line filters use MOVs to protect from overvoltage. These are one shot devices that need to be replaced after an overvoltage spike.
Still you are correct about service shops not having a clue.
Again, one would think one of three authorized repair facilities in the United States would have a working knowledge of the products it has been appointed to repair. Additionally, a subcontractor representing a company like Mark Levinson/Proceed/Lexicon may want to include the power cables when returning the equipment and ensure there doesn't appear to be spit on the faceplates of the units. Just my opinion though after three months a over two thousand dollars.
KKR has bailed on getting Harman for like $8 BILLION. Did they find out your thing doesn't work right?
I bought an HK receiver reman from the HK website. I didn't like the first one. Sent it back prepaid and they sent me another one. The second one was like new. I wouldn't take it anywhere to get repaired though. It was too cheap to buy. Just buy another one. You guys shouldn't buy equipment you expect to get repaired. Unless you have a "Stinky Steve" in your town like I do. That bastard can fix anything electronic. I think he changed the world.
