Maybe after Sirius and XM merge, the combined/merged sampling rate will sound better!

We can only hope.

I love monocoque logos!

Or stick with FM, with it's restrictions, limited programing, and commercial after commercial.....sattelite is the way to go. FM radio, where everyone must talk like they are a little kid, don't dare slip and talk like an adult...the FCC will take your money, free country? hmmm. Sirius is the future of radio Checkout Blues 74, ya can LEARN all about the history of music

Oh, brother.

I don't like FM so much either.

I was talking about Sirius in the context of how it sounds, not critiquing it versus FM. Didn't the lack of talking about FM maybe make you think it might not be an either/or thing?

I was thinking of it more in terms of what its Hi Fi qualities were, and found it lacking in several regards.

Since you seem to love it and it's the future, maybe now you can start quacking about people getting rid of their SACD's.

I have been using XM on my Motorcycle when traveling for three years now. It seems pretty well suited to that. But the better my home rig gets, the less I use the XM for anything but MC travel. It does, however, expose me to new music. That is something the local FM folks avoid at all costs. I have an excellent tuner that I fear to ruin with the crap that is broadcast around here.

I have been listening to XM radio quite a bit for its viriety. But it doesn't always sound so good. Seems to very from channel to channel. Watercolors sounds best, XM cafe sounds pretty good and Top Tracks sounds pretty bad.
I tried to find the tech data for XM and it seemed kind of vage.

No, SACD/DSD is the highest fidelity out there. Why get rid of that? Sirius fidelity is just fine, you are driving a CAR.....I'm sure some people are doing some real critical listening, pay attention to teh road, pop a SACD in then if you need such fidelity in the car....when I drive I'm really not litening for such "artifacts" or whatever inane stuff mentioned. Pleawe explain where FM is so superior in "fidelity" over Sirius? Details..cus' I'm sure it's another mind romp into some strange stuff. Should I also be adding MPINGO and Shakti to my car doors, glass? So the higher fidelity that you surmise in FM trumps the inferior content? Like watching the Sunday morning political blather in HDTV, mindless content in high fidelity. Also like some "audiophile" LP of music that is unlistenable, but some assumption of higher fidelity? Like JAZZ recorded in DSD, why bother.....

Exactly, the varied content of Sirius, has learned me all kinds of stuff I would not have found ..Blues 74 on SIRIUS is terrific. And several of their other channels. When they merge, XM/Sirius when the govt' gets off their ass, and stops playing some game with this business deal, it should be great, then all you XMer's can get Howard Stern....BaBa Booey to ya's all.

I noticed this variation also. I assume that they vary the bandwidth depending on popularity or the like.

DUP, if you cannot hear the problems with streamed compressed audio stop obsessing over it and just enjoy the music. Consider yourself lucky. You have a source of programming you enjoy.
