Good v. cheap subwoofer

Looking for a subwoofer to match B&W 601 speakers (inexpensive but decent stand-mounted spkrs)(several years old). Max $500. Suggestions?

The Emotiva Ultra Sub 12 at

The Emotiva Ultra Sub 12 at $429 delivered is hard to beat for accuracy and output for that price.

Refresh

Oops - the Emotiva has just line level inputs. Which is the better way, and that's how I have the sub on my main system hooked in. But for this second system with the B&W's, the integrated stereo amp has no extra output or subwoofer/LFE output - so I need to hook up a subwoofer that has speaker level inputs. Recommendations there? Thanks.

Elemental Designs A5s-300,

For $30 you can get this speaker level to line level converter:
http://www.amazon.com/XANTECH-SLLC1-Speaker-Level-Converter/dp/B000P0UE38

Otherwise this would be highly recommended:
Elemental Designs A5s-300, $550 but worth the extra $50.
