Made some changes:
Paradigm Atom Monitor w/ stands
Marantz PM5004 Integreated w/ pre-amp
Pro-ject Debut III Turntable
50ft 12AWG CL2 Rated 2-Conductor Loud Speaker Cable
Poundex 5-Tier Glass Top Media Shelf
Didn't realize the KEF speakers were so power intensive, moved down to the Atom Monitors, there is a store in town that sells them.
All that for $1100.00
Let me know what you think,
Thanks
-Josh
having never auditioned any of that gear, but it all seems to get good reviews online, so I'm sure it'll be good. I DO have another model in Pro-ject's lineup - the Xpression III - and I'm really happy with it after swapping out the shitty stock cartridge. Swing over to the Vinyl Engine forums if you have any Debut specific questions - the people there are great. As far as will the system function - yes, it definitely will. The TT will come with some RCA connects to get you hooked up and running. I run basic 12AWG speaker wire and hooked everything up w/ bare connects as well, so as long as you can strip a bit of wire you'll be good to go :)
NOW to answer question 3: here are some recent vinyl purchases that I'm digging:
Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi - Rome. This is such a cool, brooding, gorgeous, hypnotic LP. Spaghetti western influenced "soundtrack without a film" featuring vocals by Jack White and Norah Jones. Finding the vinyl gives it a huge, epic sweeping sound that totally fits the mood. Love it.
Metallica - Master of Puppets. Hell yes! Scored an original pressing off eBay. Taking me back to 10th grade. I've never heard Leper Messiah sound so powerful.
Gang of Four - Solid Gold. Found this used a while ago - an original pressing in stellar shape. Andy Gill's guitar tone is brilliant.
Gary Numan/Tubeway Army - Replicas. I'm a sucker for this LP. So, so good. Every shop in Montreal seemed to have used copies of this. Just classic electro synth.
Have also been spinning Miles Davis Kind of Blue a lot lately. It just feels right as fall sets in.
