End of Jazz Radio in Chicago

WBEZ the last surviving all jazz FM station operating in Chicago recently announced that within a year they will change format - to talk radio. Obviously the world needs more talk radio. I still have one college radio station with full time jazz programming, but after that, it's up to my collection and what little live stuff is happening around town.

Chicago, which once had a justified claim to being the center of jazz, has now rejected it. Change isn't always for the better.

Yet another small piece of Jazzfan has died too. Sorry to hear such sad news.

I feel you. Here in Phila. WFLN (Classical) and WRTI (Jazz) combined their stations. We now get Classical music during the day and Jazz at night from the same station. I guess I can't complain too much. We do get Jazz half the time.

Jim,
Thanks for the tip. You might want to try www.pandora.com . This is an internet project that trys to find and play music that you like and that may be new to you. You enter the name of a group, artist or song and it will try to play selections you might like. You can modify the search and tell it not to play certain selections. Check it out. It introduced me to Les Nubians. While they may not be your cup of tea they are certainly mine.
