Good work, Frank! Now, with all your skill in ferreting out the nefarious origins of these ne'er-do-wells, you should have no difficulty locating a nearby showroom, where you can audition the system. I expect a full review soon. What if you actually LIKE the sound? I know where you can buy the system on the cheapo. But hurry -- bargains don't last long on E-Bay. Clifton
Clifton, do I need to audition the newest Bose 201s to comment on Bose speakers in gen? btw-- what is the chance I'll find a "showroom" to listen to them? Inside of a white van with back doors open dont count...
Hi, Frank --
If you are going to complain, the fair thing to do is check it out. Besides, you've already gone to all this trouble...why stop half-way? This could be the expose of the decade. I don't see what Bose has to do with it. A fellow did a review of the Bose on Audiogon (it's still there -- you can check it out), and it was negative, but at least he went to the trouble of listening for himself, and the review IS balanced and fair. You could be doing us all a great service. Who knows? Maybe the Elite stuff is really good, and we wouldn't have found out otherwise. I can remember everyone trashing GoldCorp (if you don't mind an analogy) when I bought it for 2 bucks five years ago. Last week, it traded at $43. It's down now, but I'm all over the dip. Good things happen when you keep an open mind. Clifton
I'm actually glad this was brought up and am confident that Stereophile will react appropriately. The Stereophile brand is a big part of the equation and things like this often result in internal policy...tweaking. Gotta be fair to everybody and do a little research before commenting too strongly on this, but I think we are on the same page.
What's the difference between an open mind and an empty head. Ever hear of first preminitions? Sometimes ya just go on your gut instinct. An open mind can be costly and dangerous. Why then is experience the best teacher? And if it smells like a duck and walks like a duck....And he who go to sleep with itchy hiney, wake up with smelly finger.....
