I happily agree with your kudos to Maria Schneider. She's a treasure, and Gil Evans and Bob Brookmeyer are surely both proudly smiling down upon their former student.
Maybe it's still too new a release for the db critics this year, but Moments in Time, documenting Stan Getz and his Keystone Corner group from 1976 is truly wonderful. Joanne Brackeen's piano complemented Getz in a manner only exceeded by Kenny Barron.
In recent months I've really been enjoying trumpeter John Raymond's Real Feels, his current recording, which features a cover of Radiohead's Atoms for Peace that is truly engrossing. A few week's ago Jeff Hanley featured it on PRI's Jazz Happening Now, and I'm hopeful that many more people were able to hear it.
