Great to learn that you are back home!
My experience is as yours. Some rooms sound inherently much better (or much worse) than others.
Thanks for the congrats pal! I was looking to upgrade my speakers in the old place. Not that they are high dollar, they are Infinity bookshelf speakers. But their bass was mia and there was a big high bass bump in the apartment no matter where I put them.
The room where we listen at home is more open and larger, so that certainly has something to do with it. But even with completely haphazard placement, it sounds like I am home.

It's good to hear you have some new digs. A good sounding room is always a plus.
Thanks Joe! It is actually returning to our old digs! We got flooded out in May and just got back in. Last night, my wife and I were laughing and giggling about how much better the same speakers haphazardly thrown in the room sound SO much better than the apartment. I was looking to upgrade the speakers before Saturday, now I look forward to properly setting them up and getting even more glorious sound out of them!

Woo hoo!
Congrats to you!
Pics! We want pics!
Nothing much to look at Buddha, but I will take and post some pics when I get set up.

The interaction of room responses and loudspeaker radiation patterns is a complex subject at the very least. What you have found out is that a radiation pattern that works well in one room does not work well in another.
I know that's not very helpful, but the subject is, as many people who have experimented with speaker position (perhaps you) know, quite complex.
