The issue with this is not so much of an adapter as it is that you need 5 channels to drive 5 speakers, that one has 2. The 5 speakers are intended for surround sound and no adapter is going to turn 2 channels into 5.
You have two pathes forward. You can get 2 speakers for the integrated amp which seems like a darn nice unit. Or you could get a surround receiver to drive the Bose. I would recommend one of the Denon units that Crutchfield or any other retailer has on discount. They are all severely discounted because Dolby just introduced Atmos and all the non-Atmos units are on deal. If you opt for two speakers, let us know your budget and we can offer a strong value in any price range.
Whether you like or don't like Bose is moot. I dislike the Acoustimas system personally, but my opinion is worth what you paid for it. Incidentally, I own a wave radio and think it sounds great.
Bierfeldt, thank you for you advice. That is clear to me. Would I be right in thinking, with this amp, I can not use the BOSE subwoofer? it has an "LFE" cable with RCA connecter. But NO there is no "female" outlet for it on the amp (receiver).
My Dad definitely wants smaller speakers, and he is attached to his DIA 100 amp. But TWO speaker is fine. There is no need for 4 or 5.
thanks again,
Guy
Bose is overpriced Crap; if you can return it or sell it, do so ASAP. The subwoofer is probably not really compatible anyway.
It isn't that we "hate" Bose; it's just that their stuff is real crap and sells for about 5 times what it is worth. You hate to see people getting screwed like that.
I don't know what your price range is, but the Wharfedale Diamond 10.2 speakers are less than $500 per pair from Music Direct. Or if they are bigger than you want, get the 10.1.
Or would you prefer floorstanding speakers?
If so, Audio Advisor has the Monitor Audio BX6 speakers for $379 each, and that is a very good price for a good floorstanding speaker. They have a pretty small footprint, so they really don't take up all that much space.
I would advise getting a pair of speakers first, try them with that amplifier (which is a good one), and then see if a subwoofer is needed.
I don't see how you can connect the Bose and get it to work. As best I can tell, you connect the "LFE" cable via speaker level inputs and a subwoofer output. The lack of the subwoofer output is the insurmountable issue in getting this to work. The BOSE system really needs to be attached to a 5.1 receiver.
I am not sure what your budget is. There are some great sounding small speakers available new and used. My wife insists on smaller speakers so I am familiar with several lines of great speakers.
Thank you all for you expertese and help. I see clearly now. Pooh to Bose.
If you decide to get a subwoofer, get one that has speaker-level inputs; these are the best to use in any case.
You just run some small gauge speaker wire from the terminals of the speaker to the subwoofer (#16 or #18 speaker wire).
The speaker-level inputs on the sub let you use the subwoofer's own crossover and level control to match any speakers and amplifier.
The Polk PSW505 is only $260 from Amazon, and is very good for that price.
Commsysman, that is the solution.
So many excellent speakers in the market-place. Get out there and listen, listen, listen!
