You guys are too funny.

About 20-25 million watch ABC, NBC, CBS.

Maybe it's time to change Fox Cable to the "Patriot News Network."

The right wing nut jobs would suck that right up!

So...

You're probably right, Buddha. You got the demographics for those ratings?

Rank Show Viewers millions
1. NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams 8.6
2. ABC World News Tonight with Charles Gibson 7.9
3. CBS Evening News With Katie Couric 6.1

But, this is the news. Cable news is where people go to hear what they want to hear. It's the people like you and me. Plus, not everybody has cable or satellite. Perhaps a a large number of viewers are dumb ass hicks. For one hour to a half hour people are watching network news waiting for something like American Idle to come on.

1. American Idol (Wed) Fox 23.7 million viewers

BTW, the total for the network news comes to 20.1 million viewers. So, what was your point?

I thought we were speaking of news broadcasts...lets see..20 minutes a day after commercials in the old media, about as much as those serious news viewers can handle a day and all of it 100% devoted to TAO.

Brian Williams gets less than half Limbaugh's numbers...

The problem remains...for folk who pretend to follow the news FOX gets more than twice as many viewers as the two leftist media outlets...broadcast networks have not covered the news since Watergate...

What's the point of all this? Are you guys saying that Fox is the one who tells its viewers the truth? Are you saying that America is moving to the right of the political spectrum, hence Fox is most watched? Are you saying that the majority of the country is getting galvanized under Rush Limbaugh's umbrella to take the country back from the Marxists who stole the 2008 election?

Congrats, you are halfway there.

Now, once you wake up to the fact that the far right makes stuff up, you'll get really upset.

All I'm saying is about as many people watch network news, cable news, and American Idol. I've made no mention of bias. Simply posted some stats and moved on from there.

Ok. These folks have a choice and they can listen to whatever they want. However, during the election, most folk decided that the course laid out by the Republican party was not the course they want to follow.

So, Fox news and Rush Limbaugh can bitch and moan and whine and curse all they want, but the right had a chance to govern and they proved yet again, that they can't.

So, here we are. Keep watching whatever you're watching.

True, but that was then and this is now...Obama ran as a moderate. He didn't fool 57 million of us but he did fool 62 million others. Some of those folk are waking up as things get worse and all Obama does is spend other folks money. Those folk are flocking to media that does more than reprint DNC talking points.

As I talk Obama is talking about the Auto industry and the market is down over 250.

First of all, Obama did not run as a moderate. He was considered the most liberal senator in the senate and everyone knew it. He ran as a progressive, an unabashed progressive.

Secondly, I refuse to be governed the by the markets. I did not elect the markets. The markets will fluctuate, they will go up and they will go down. The policy he's setting forth is to be long term. Let the markets do what the markets do. We already got screwed by the markets, so at this point, I don't give a rat's ass what they do.

"Progressive" is code word for 'liberal' for folk who are afraid to say it like it is...'Liberal' is to say economic neophyte or quasi Marxist whose philosophy is best summed up by Margret Thatcher..."

I don't think we chose poorly. The Reagan revolution ended with a bang, and so we chose someone who can take us in a different direction, rather than be governed by the whims of the markets or those who play them.

Furthermore, it has been shown time and time again that capitalism in its pure form does not work. It enriches the few and impoverishes the masses. This, in turn leads to a revolution.

Conversely, socialism in its pure form does not work. It leads to inefficiencies, and crumbling of the technological infrastructure.

What works and works pretty well is a balance of socialist and capitalist policies. The balancing act is tricky, but when done right, it can lead to a thriving society.

Neo Marxism has not worked...simply regulating private industry into bankruptcy and then blaming the owners is not a road to economic success..I fully expect our new leader to keep us in semi depression for much of his term, simply because he has no other route in his playbook. Worse, spending twice what we bring in (this year alone) is a recipe to hyperinflation...He could be the Chancellor Hindenburg of our time....

Tell that to the folk in the camps or the drones in soviet factories...

Freedom is more than an idea...it is a reality in free states...

Is there a single thing you can do that is not taxed or regulated in some way...even using the john is regulated by government, as is the paper one wipes the posterior with...that is not freedom, but a Potemkin Village of freedom.

You are quite correct. However, that's a totally different discussion. You will never be free if you live in the US. You will always be regulated, charged, tracked, filmed and monitored. That's a different topic though.

Re: Damn, CNN takes a hit; Loses to MSNBC

For the most part, we are being monitored and controlled by private enterprises. Our credit card purchases are monitored and tracked, our spending habits, we are filmed by cameras installed in stores, private buildings, etc.

We accept this control and monitoring for the convenience it provides us in terms of being able to pay without carrying a wad of cash, accessing our money from any ATM, etc. We have become slaves to convenience.

However, what we're talking about here is supporting folks who would put control and regulations on the powerful. Right now, it's the powerless, the masses that are regulated, controlled and monitored. We want to see the powerful subjected to the same deal.

I won't even bother finding a quote by Adolf Hitler of the National Socialist Party similar to that statement. It's too easy. Give me something more difficult.

I recall reading about the liberal riots in America when it was still a colonial place. Even lead to a war - you would have preferred George II, I'm sure.

Modern conservatives tend to riot over soccer and wanting to lynch black folk. Maybe attack a few schools that are trying to integrate. That sort of thing.

Rioting over economic policy is interesting.

Your white hot vapid hatred of Obama would lead one to think you'd agree with the rioters' posititon that the G-20 is doing a lousy job.

Since you seem to disagree with the liberals opposed to G-20 policy, why aren't you crowing about how the liberals over there are seeing through the G-20 like you do?

I'm still waiting for your example of a successful right wing first world country.

All the heavy lifting of freedom is done by liberals.

If they were 'liberal riots' why are todays 'liberals' so blithely unconcerned about the things those folk rioted over...big, unresponsive government, out of control spending and the use of fear and force to keep everyone quiet (well, that and bribes to supporters)

It took a decade of abuse from the oblivious British government before folk decided to really act. It takes a single act so over the top that folk say no more..that can be an unconstitutional law passed, property stolen, or some specific freedom taken...folk are mad, they are also getting organized. Tea Parties, Committees of Correspondence (internet forums and talk radio)...all we need is time and either the idiots will be removed from office (as were most of the republicans dead wood over two elections) or folk will act in other ways.

Private power is...private. Leave if you are oppressed. One cannot vote with ones feet when government is involved.

Lets face it, the most corrupt AND inept organization ever developed by man is government and this particular government is the most inept and power grubbing we have ever seen.

It's not that simple. Power is power and private power permeates the government and thus controls our lives. It is just as difficult to get away from private power as it is from government power. Private power is even worse because it has absolutely no accountability to the general public. AIG is a prime example. They have ruined the lives of millions of people. Directly - through the layoffs and the losses of the pension funds and other investments, as well as indirectly - through the ripple effect on the greater economy. Yet, they have no accountability to the people whose lives they have affected. No matter how inept or bad the government is, there is always at least some semblance of accountability, no matter how small. There is no such thing with private power.

"CABLE NEWS"????

What the fck does THAT mean??

I get all of the NETWORK stations (from L.A.) AND the FOX AND CNN AND MSNBC AND a bunch of others on DirecTV, and almost everyone gets them all on cable or satellite.

Seems like an artificial and meaningless distinction to compare media available solely on cable, if that means what I think it means. It tells noone anything about anything.

You love them labels, eh, Commissar? Wha'ja'do? Get a book of nasty little names to call people in your Cap'N'Crunch? Must be, you haven't displayed an understanding of any of the names you've used here. Try more milk, Commissar, and think of a quote from Catch22 that you think really puts me in my place.

ROTFLMAO!

Finding the holes in your right wing nut job posts doesn't take much work, Comrade. Hell, even an average Republican could do it!

Actually what I'm hoping for is this Open Bar shit gets shut down. When it gets to the point an audio forum has about one post concerning audio to every two dozen about politics, this is not why I came here. This has become a cozy place for a few nut jobs to settle in, never discuss audio and take aim at everyone they hate - which is anyone who doesn't think like them. So I'll swamp everything you've tried to do here, Commissar, and hope this goes away.

I do take note that I have gotten inside your head too, Commissar. Like so many before you I have got you thinking about me constantly, so much you are mentioning my name even when I have not contributed to the thread. That's obssession, Comrade! LOL! That's obssession and it's the sign of weakness and misdirection. It's happened before, youre not the first and you probably won't be the last. You are too weakminded to resist. Keep it up!
