Connecting DAC to amp

I am building a computer-based music system.  I'm looking to get the Music Hall DAC.  Can I connect that directly to an amplifier or will I need a preamp as well?  I will not be using any other inputs; only pc to DAC.

You can connect it directly to an integrated amplifier

which has pre or control amp and power amp sections in one box. But unless your DAC has a volume control, connecting the DAC directly to separate power amplifier can be problematic. While one sometimes can control the volume in software in the computer, one has to be careful that the power amplifier is not fed a signal in excess of what can be handled by the system.

What make and model amplifier are you considering?

I was looking at the

I was looking at the Parasound Halo A23 amp.  It sounds like an integrated is the way to go.

You would need a preamp like the Parasound Halo P3

to go with that. Look into the Anthem 225 Integrated amplifier.
