Comprable to Audio Refinement Complete Integrated Amplifier

First post here :)

I've been borrowing an Audio Refinement Complete Integrated Amplifier from a friend after my trusty old 70's Pioneer SA-9500 II bit the dust. Since my friend already had a nifty set-up and FOUND the ARCIA on the street waiting to be recycled (!!) he was generous enough to let me run it on my system. He now needs to take it back to set up a second system and I have since fallen head-over-heels in love with that amp! I'll need to replace the amp with something new (or used) for under $500. I've found a few used ARCIAs online for the right price but they have since sold and I havent seen any for sale since then. SO, I'm now looking for a comprable replacement. Any suggestions?

The rest of my set-up is as follows:

- Pro-ject Debut TT with an Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge

- Cambridge Audio Phono Pre 651P

- Pair of Monitor Audio BX-1 speakers

Thanks!

AMPLIFIER OR RECEIVER.

I suggest that you look at the Harman-Kardon 3490 stereo receiver.

It runs around $450 and is very good; better than many of the amplifiers you can get for the same price.

THANKS

Thanks for the reply commsysman. You would recommend the H-K over the Music Hall a15-2? I've also found a few tube amps on ebay for under $500....notably this Music Angel XDSE: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Music-Angel-XDSE-EL34-x-4-Class-Stereo-Integrate...

I'm not sure about getting into tube amps at this price point. They seem to really vary in quality. Thoughts?

Arcam A80/A85

Personally heard them right next to one another.  They are both very very good and pretty similar sounding.  The Audio Refinement is a little more warm through the midrange while the Arcam seems more detailed and balanced in it's presentation.

I think you'd like either.
