Epic news, nc!
Her heart pumps, stops, starts, plays, drops

Rocks back
Thanks for the info. I had thought that the good Captain was not in very good health and therefore was eschewing the rigors of touring with a band. So all of this news comes as a rather welcome surprise. I've loved Beefheart and have seen him live many times, even one time with the original Magic Band.
I'm sad to say that it seems that the original article (from which the Blurt article was taken) was published online by Harp Magazine (no longer in existence) on April Fool's Day. I checked some of the tour dates against some of venue's official schedules and no Beefheart to be found.
A very cruel joke indeed.
Time to listen to some Trout Mask to help ease the pain.
Very cruel. Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vliet) has multiple sclerosis, is confined to a wheelchair, and from all accounts, is in extremely poor health.
Whether or not Captain Beefheart has multiple sclerosis is the subject of some debate:
This one says no - at bottom of page
This one says yes - see last paragraph
And this is not sure - see "Is Don ill?"
Whatever the case may be Captain Beefheart is officially retired from the music scene although his spirit and music burn ever more brightly everyday.
