This calls for governmental sword control,

I'd call it good sword control.

He even performed Islamic ritual punishment while defending himself!

Re: This calls for governmental sword control,

I live 5 blocks from where this occured. The intruder had a lengthy criminal record and had been arrested 29 times for robbery, breaking & entering, purse snatching, breaking into cars, assualt, etc., etc.

He was well known in the neighborhood for what he was but, not surprisingly, there was nothing any of the area residents, merchants or officials could do to keep him out of the neighborhood. He had even been arrested for attempting to rob an elderly patient as she left the hospital that was across the street from where he found justice.

There was a report, from the district atorney, that the student who defended himself might face charges for possesing an illegal weapon. The Baltimore City police chief quickly made it known that no such charge would be made.

Strike a blow for justice!

I must say I'm glad that the sword-owning individual didn't live in one of the police states where it's not legal to defend yourself.

Re: This calls for governmental sword control,

December 14, 2004 I removed a pistol from a burglar who was trying to stick me up in my living room. I subsequently shot said burglar after deciding not to kill him. I then went outside, sat on my porch steps and waited for the police. One of my neighbors had called them. I was cuffed and taken to district headquarters. The "perp" was taken to the hospital for surgery.

After giving my statement I was driven home by a uniformed officer. I got to sit up front! I had to attend several court dates as a witness for the prosecution. He was eventually sentenced to 2 years, mostly because the gun I took from him was stolen.

Good job. That took guts. I'm surprised the asshole didn't try to sue you.
