I have a 19' x 31' woodshop with four KEF Q900's driven by a NAD T748. The receiver has a listening mode called "enhanced stereo". This means the front right signal is reproduced in the rear right, and the same for the left side. On occasion I have tried the "stereo" setting (fronts only) and it sounds small and distant. There's a 748 on Audiogon for $369 right now. They're a highly regarded company. Unless you already have those Ascends, I'd tell you to look at the Infinity Reference R162's at Crutchfield.com for the same price. They go deeper if nothing else.
