Cabasse Teams up with Teac-Esoteric

After a few years absence from the U.S. market, France's oldest loudspeaker company, Cabasse, has signed a distribution agreement with Esoteric and Teac. In the next few months, many of Teac-Esoteric's 125 US dealers will begin distributing the Cabasse line.

Cabasse loudspeakers are most easily identified by their spherical shape. Most of the company's drivers, save for its subwoofers, are a coaxial design which the company identifies as Spatially Coherent Source (SCS).

The roots of Cabasse loudspeakers extend back to 1740, when Cabasse built its first violin in Mirecourt, in the Vosges mountains of France. Established as a speaker company in 1950, the company currently has 36 dedicated employees, 18 of whom focus solely on research and development. Having become a member of the Canon group in 2006, the company now assembles its drivers either at its French headquarters, which boasts the largest anechoic chamber in the world, or at the Canon factory three hours away.

At a press conference, held Monday January 7 on the 29th floor of the Venetian hotel, Tim Crable, Director of Sales for TEAC America, introduced key members of the Cabasse team.
