Cambridge has a decent reputation from what I hear, I like the way that integrated looks - nice an clean. On my budget system, I use a Marantz PM7001, and you can usually find this for $500 or less (I found mine new for $480). I've been very happy with it. The headphone out is great if that is important to you, and it has some more power than the 340A (which, all other things equal, should sound better).
The Onkyo A-9555 has gotten great reviews here and is at amazon for less than $500 - really a good deal.
Can't help you on the speakers, but if you have a little patience and you're willing to get a used pair, it can really pay off.
You might also want to let us know what you want to do with it and what your sources are.
I have experience with both brands and these exact models. I own the PSBs and my uncle owns the Cambridge. Excellent choices, I think.
Have fun, and welcome to the forum.
Dude,
You look just like Omar! If we were to shave the top of your head and put a fake beard on your chin, you could go rob a bank and blame it on Omar!
I agree with Stephen. The somewhat warm sound of the PSBs will compliment
the Cambridge just fine.
I have seen some good pricing on NAD integrateds from my buddy, Walt Liederman, www.underwoodhifi.com . He also does the Jolida tube/mosfet hybrid integrated amps that are excellent values.
