Beginner Turntable System help (poor college student)

Hi all, first post here so thanks for the help!

I own a pair of audioengine a5 powered bookshelf speakers i want to start using with a turntable.

Is it better to get something like the project debut III USB or just hte project debut III and buy the preamp and whatever else i need (think maybe a dac) separately?

My budget is $600

Need to get beginner turntable and whatever else i need. Go.

ProJect Debut III in basic black for $369

and a Bellari VP-130 phono preamp for $250 or the Cambridge Audio 640P for $180 would be a good entry level match for your active Audioengines. If you are looking at digital sources using a DAC you might want a preamp/control amp to distribute your different sources to the active speakers.
