Trey,
You are absolutely correct; the mono versions are fascinatingly, compellingly different.
Isn't it cool Elk? I bet it is like if your spouse gets a makeover. You know your spouse, but their is something compelling about the differences! Honestly, I am a little distracted from work from anticipating doing some listening tonight.

The first song on the first release (I Saw Her Standing There from Please Please Me) is such a rollicking, swinging ode to adolescent joy. It reminded me why they hit so hard and fast and took the world by storm when I was young and full of hope. The mono really nails it.
I got some sort of mono set of albums recorded during BBC broadcasts. Is this the same thing?
I don't know. I was talking about the new cd box set. My Beatles vinyl is pretty awful.
I was listening and comparing some 24/96 rips of my Beatle vinyl (british and japanese pressings) with the mono cds. Both have their points, but the higher res vinyl sourced files sounded rounder and fuller, while the cds sounded more precise and seemed to have faster dynamics.
If I could find clean mono copies of the Beatles catalogue and if I could afford them it would be a difficult decision. Since I can neither find nor afford great mono copies, I will take my $63 (from ebay delivered!!!) cd box set and listen till my ears get numb.

The remastered mono versions on CD are spectacular. The new stereo versions are great also but the mono is special.
Not only is the overall sound improved, there is so much more to hear - individual vocal lines are more distinct, bass guitar comes through much more expressively, etc.
I just enjoy the Beatles and am having a lot of fun. True believers must be absolutely out of their minds.
I love the beatles too, and bought the reissue...but the love affair is over.
there is so much good music out there that noone has ever heard, and I have no interest in nostalgia any more. from now on the only new albums im buying are from new bands.
the beatles empire doesnt need any more money...but some of the under the radar bands do
This is what have in Beatles mono LP.
We are painfully aware of that...
I have Live at the BBC as well.
My impression is that this is something for the true fan. I find it pretty uninteresting overall.
sorry, lamont
Elk would find a meteorite uninteresting.
Depends where it landed.
And is it shiny?
"there is so much good music out there that no-one has ever heard, and I have no interest in nostalgia any more. from now on the only new albums im buying are from new bands."
Good for you man! I'm tired of hearing that there isn't anything good out there- complete horse shit! Those people who say that only "hear what's out there" by what they catch off garbage pop stations and what gets pushed by Hollywood.well- if that were all that was happening I'd agree. But there are literally too many good bands out there to hear them all.
Absolutely.
Also too much new classical music being recorded to hear it all.
Incredible what is out there.
