I have no way to evaluate this claim scientifically. All I can do is listen.

Dan Lavry is widely acknowledged as one of the premier digital designers, and in THIS interview he argues that ultra-high sample rates are not only unnecessary, but they're actually worse than more practical sample rates.

I recommend Dan's DAC as often as I can (I just did in this forum within the last week).

I haven't even thought of these articles for quite a while - nice link.

DUP are you saying that a high sample rate and bit resolutiuon is a good thing ?

ie reducing quantization errors to make digital more analogue ?

No, to make it sound live and real. If you think the reproduction off an LP is lifelife reproduction, you are really misguided. Snap crackle pop, limited dynamics, horrible separation, snap. I'm sure you listen to analog off of 2" reel-reel at like 15-30IPS, you talkin bout that analog? I'm sure you have a large studio Ampex or Studer set up. Right? Digital allows much better of everything, sound convience, storage, analog doesn't let things happen. In video or aduio. You know we have moved past teh basic discovery of FIRE, we now control it, use it, we don't just start a fire in a pit with people hanging around grunting, well some still do that, they call it a party. But things evolve, digital has allowed for hi fi excelence for teh masses, analog is cumbersome, expensive, and obsolete, if it takes an MF $100K TT to sound like a well under $1000 digital device, guess who wins, not the dope who pays $100K for a spinning platter, with worn out vinyl being ground into pieces on each play. The LP was an improvement over 78 which improved over teh wax cylinder, DIGITAL improves above everything, 21st century, join it. BANDWIDTH matters not just in digital ckts, but in all the associated stuff amps, pre amps etc. it mattered in teh days of analog only, but they couldn't do it, thus DIGITAL solves teh issues.
