Decades ago, Arturo lived in Rhode Island while teaching at Southeastern Massachusetts University. One index of the parochialism around here is that people refer to it as "SMU" with a straight face... .

So I told Arturo that he had to play in Providence at an occasion other than the funeral of someone named "Marks" (he played at my father's funeral 16 years ago and my mother's last year) and his response was, he planned to play the Goldmark Concerto slow movement at his own funeral!
