I was using one until my recent upgrade to a VPI rig. I'd recommend using some damping compound like Blu Tack under the platter and a tiny bit inside the headshell to reduce resonances. I also made a felt mat for the platter which seemed to help.
Thanks for the reply. I will try the damping compound and see how that works for me. I currently have a felt mat that the individual I bought the table from gave me. He had just gone thru and cleaned up the table and put a new belt on, so it works well mechanically (especially for $50). Although the felt mat seems to slip a little, it is pretty light, and I was wondering if any of the higher dollar mats made out of different materials might help/hinder the sound.
Also, what cartridge were you using? When I purchased the table he told me that it would need to be replaced, and I have noticed some hiss/buzz that is probably due to the old needle/cartridge.
One more thing... would you suggest replacing the power/phono plugs on the table. Mine have some surface wear, but no rust, and figured I might try replacing those to help with the sound.
Thanks again,
Josh
I used a Shure V15-MR with it and did happen to change the power cord, as well as RCA phono with female jacks so that I could use the interconnects of my choice.
Thanks for the info!
