They made some tube gear and a some killer D/A converters back in the 90s and I know they received both Class A and B ratings in Stereophile and were in Vegas at a lot of CES shows, so they must have been a rising star at one point in time. I met the owners, Daric Laughlin and Michael Fessler at a local shop years ago. Nice guys. Just wondering if anyone knows what happened to them.
I worked at Primus Audio (Kansas City, home to Encore) in the late 80's early 90's when Derek was working on the Encore preamp. That was a wonderful sounding preamp with an excellent phono stage. I'm not sure what happened to the company, but Encore pieces still show up on Audiogon from time to time. Ah, fond memories...

I never owned Encore, yet they went out of business?
That makes no sense. Usually, hi fi companies wait until I buy their gear before they do that!
Seriously, though, I'll look around and see if I can get the down low on any story. That's too bad.
