Another connection question... help needed

Hi All,
So I have a newer dell computer and for sound/music I have a pair of powered speakers that connect to the headphone jack on the front of the computer with a 1/8 stereo mini plug. They sound good but i was thinking, is it possible to hook up my much nicer sounding stereo reciever to the computer using say the aux rca connections so that I can hear the computer thru the stereo?? Is it possible to get a 1/8" stereo mini connector and run it from the headphone jack on the computer to a "stereo splitter" of some sort with rca connectors and then plugs those into the aux connection on the stereo reciever?? any thoughts on how this can be done if my idea is not possible?

thanks! artie.

Yes! its absolutely possible. In fact I do the same thing at home. However, if you're considering connecting a high-end or even mid-end system to your computer you may want to consider upgrading your audio card. May I recommend the HT Omega Claro Plus+, HT Omega Claro Halo, or ASUS Xonar Essence STX. They're around 150-200 USD.
I think a 6ft 3.5 to RCA interconnect is around 10-15 USD.

You want to connect it to the green stereo output jack on the sound card, not the headphone jack in the front.
