I am trying to match a pair of floor standing speakers to my Rega Mira 3 that I just purchased. I have an old pair of Advent Legacy speakers that I can repair for $150 (woofer replacement). I have another option for a pair of Mission 752 speakers for $450. I am doing a listening test, but would like to hear what people say about whether I should take one of the deals or wait for the next one.
One additional piece of data -- I have a niche where the speakers go so I can't get anything larger or higher than the speakers I mentioned.
Does it make sense to buy used? Are these used prices reasonable (for Europe area)? Or should I go with new speakers? I am only interested in audio, no home theatre, etc.

It is virtually impossible to satisfactorily repair older speakers, unless the company that made them is still currently in business and making original replacement parts available.

Vandersteen and JBL, for example, would fall into that category. Most companies do not.

Replacement speakers will almost never have the same impedance or acoustic characteristics of the original, and therefor the performance of the speaker will be seriously impaired and not truly be "restored" to a satisfactory degree.

I advise you to get new speakers and forget about trying to restore old ones.
