To kick off his three-loudspeaker survey from the January 2004 issue, Art Dudley sets up the Meadowlark Audio Swift loudspeaker in his room and notes, "You look at something like the Meadowlark Swift and you think, How can they sell this for only $1195/pair?"

Next, AD reviews the Horn Shoppe Horn loudspeaker, writing, "Forget the numbers: The Horns played music with guts and conviction. They had a sure, tight sense of pitch and rhythm, and my attention never wandered from the music while I was in their presence."

In review number three, AD takes a listen to the Moth Audio Cicada loudspeaker in an attempt to answer the question "What affordable speakers can I use with my low-power, single-ended-triode amps?"

Also from the January issue, we have Paul Bolin's followup on the Lamm ML1.1 monoblock power amplifier. The Lamm was originally reviewed by Jonathan Scull in May 2000; PB checks to see what's new.

Finally, the next installment in our "Recording of the Month" series for the online archives: Recording of December 1992, Shostakovich: 24 Preludes & Fugues, Op.87. In our first ever RotM, Igor Kipnis favorably compares Keith Jarrett's piano interpretations with others.
