The D7 is a portable, like a walkman but much more sophisticated (and expensive)...I have has it powered up for 24 hours. I cannot clean the heads as the cleaning tape, another 4MM DAT tape, also does not play.

There is no humidity. Every indication is the thing should work. I get the right screens, it loads properly BUT, when loaded and I hit play...it flashes 'load' a half dozen times and goes into stop. It does the same thing on fast forward or rewind....

Most annoying as the thing was barely used, cost a lot, and too old to get fixed...
