John, I know that magazine cover. In fact, I'm sure I had that issue until it was thrown out with a bunch of other magazines in some housecleaning. But I never realized that it was you on the cover. Soon after I joined the staff of Hi-Fi News magazine in the fall of 1976, then-art editor Mark Stevens asked me if I would mind being on the cover of the January 1977 issue, to accompany an article I had written on the making of reproduction early instruments. I played viola da gamba in an early music group from 1977 through 1980.
