We are back in production with the RoomTune acoustical treatments. Sorry about the lapse. Setup of the new place took a little longer than we thought, but we're back up to speed.

Harold Cooper of Sound Consultant and now MGA did a great job getting the new location up and going. Thank you Harold for your love of music and desire to help others get the best sound possible.

There are 3 main parts to the playback side of the hobby.

1) electrical
2) mechanical
3) acoustical

I have been working on "the method of listening" since I got into music. As a result there have been many products I've designed that allow a listener to get the sound they want. Something that I think makes my designing different than many others is I believe in the listeners choice as well as the absolute sound. You'll probably never go to another listeners home or an audio show in your lifetime and hear the music sound the same as you are getting at your home. You'll also never hear two recordings sound exactly the same on your system. Most of the time some music will sound great, some good, and some less than good. When you read me talk about this on this forum and Tuneland I know it makes you wonder, "is it the recording or is it my system that makes the sound good or bad"? Experts in the recording and playback industries will say that the typical high end audio system plays about 10% of the recorded info. At first this may seem not so true, but let's do an experiment. Pick out a recording that you have and look up where this recording was made so you can see the studio that this was made in. Most well known recordings have info available on where and how the recording was done. It may take a little research on your part but you'll find it. Once you do look at the live studio rooms or hall the recording was made in, now play the recording. Can you see in the pics the size of the rooms or hall taken of this recording? The recording is the size of these rooms and if you unlock the recorded signal using your space as your hall and your equipment as your instruments you will not be seeing a miniture representative, but the whole picture.

My method is used all over the world and as you read TuneLand you will see the success stories of people who have taken their listening hobby to a whole new level. One that puts the recordings soundstage size and tone above anything else. On TuneLand I talk about a 2008 interview with Harry Pearson and give my thoughts http://tuneland.techno-zone.net/t234-harry-pearson-2008 .

The truth in this hobby all comes down to the size of that stage and the closer you get to real size/real space the more you will hear the performance as it was actually made, "the absolute sound". My goal has been to deliver this sound that Harry and J Gordon as well as many others have talked about. It's not the smallish stage that you hear at the shows or in your friends rooms but something that is much bigger and far more real to life. Sounds like a pretty bold statement. Who does this guy think he is? Well it's not about who I am but the others who follow this method and use these products and achieve the huge stages, and place themselves in the recording instead of hearing a small portion of it.

If you are happy with the sound of your music collection then there really is no need to bother with this, but if your sitting there tonight wondering if you are hearing everything (the actual event) I want to tell you, you can be. Take the time to read through some of these threads http://tuneland.techno-zone.net/f3-home-audio-systems and more. Take that piece of music and imagine the stage being 3 times or more than the stage you now have. If you would like this I can help you get there. No audiophile BS debates, no technical run-a-rounds, and no sales pitch beyond the method itself. On TuneLand I'll give you starter tunes that you can do yourself N/C. Once you see that we are legit, we can begin to take you deeper into the hobby of listening then you ever thought possible, and you can talk to others on the same journey.

Find out how to take your hobby as far as it can go or as far as you want to take it. http://tuneland.techno-zone.net/ TuneLand can take you there.

Hi Listeners, I think what I will do is give up dates on this one thread if that's ok.

1) Thanks Guys for the mail, yes we are getting a little swamped with the fall season starting but I'll do my best to keep up to speed. We were working on a hall in NC but those products shipped today so that gives us space back. The La Crosse workshop is in two separate buildings so when we get a bigger order of the RTD2's it takes up the space. The Pillow products are in fair stock at Music Direct and we're keeping an eye on that. They've done a great job.

2) With questions, also keep in mind you can reach Harold Cooper "Coop".

3) Should have a report on the new speakers soon. I'll post the info on TuneLand and give you a link.

4) yes, it is true we are more than likely coming out with the CD Player & Amp, but because I'm doing all the wood choosing for the speakers myself I want to see how much time it takes with curing in the space we have here. Not that we don't have space but it's not the Ohio factory. Once we get the speakers up and runing well then we will take a look at the Amps and goodies.

I'll also post here some about the wood choices I've been using and why.

all for now

It's pretty exciting times at TuneLand Vegas! I've had the "Mandolin" playing for 2 weeks now (in their current state) and their already doing some beautiful tunes & tones. You can see the progress on http://tuneland.techno-zone.net/t4p555-michael-s-system and the some of the other threads.

The last ten years of prototyping in the desert has been a great learning experience and I've built some good relationships with craftsmen who are at the top of their game, which helps a ton when making musical instruments. Making speakers this way has also taught me a lot about audio myths that have come along through the years. Some of the views I have seen and heard didn't make a lot of sense to me. They seemed more like people trying to make a technology or threory based on what they were hearing that they couldn't explain, so they made a hypothesis into fact that really weren't fact at all or even make sense. One of them being cabinet back wave, another being filling the cabinet, and the strangest one making inert cabinets.

On the electronic side it gets just as strange. We all know that inductors create magnetic field distortion, yet throw these inductors right next to caps and resistors. This to me is a sign that many are looking at the numbers when they should have been listening to the sound. It's really very simple, or should be. If a driver doesn't work with a cabinet and a tweeter, don't throw them together with a bunch of glue and fix it's. If the cabinet, driver and tweeter do work together you need nothing more than a cap and resistor. Another thought I will be bringing up on "build vs sound".

I spend my time getting as close as I can to the tonality of real instruments, and this will never be done by replacing instrument materials with the over use of electronic parts.

Hi Guys

Thought it was going to be the "Mandolin" speakers that were going to be ready for orders first, but turns out the Mini Mods beat them to the punch getting out the door. If your budget has been around a cool grand or less take a peek at these.

First we start with the well reviewed Dayton Audio b652. "best budget bookshelf speakers in the world"

They are gutted, treated, and in goes a voiced Maple Tuning bar. The Tuning bar acts as both a mid-point brace and variable Speaker/Room interface that allows you to play them in almost any room and any type of music.

The speaker grills are no more, same with the rubber pads, and most of the front baffle is cut away and replaced with a solid viola wood front baffle, cured and finished in the Nevada Desert at 4%. The drivers are now direct coupled to the cabinets.

MGA Binding post are use, and MGA Bare Essense is the new cable.

The Caps are upgraded and there is no inductor.

The woofer is modified and re-used, with the tweeter replaced.

MGA Audio Alloy Tuning Bolts are used for tuning on either side of the cabinet along with our voicing washer and (included) hardwood voicing washers, for musical taste.

Price $499.00 per pair direct, half of retail.

New specs 45hz-22khz (36hz room dependent)

The Mini Mod is a true (maybe the only) full range mini monitor on the market less than a grand. When we say 45hz, we're saying musical 45hz. The mini mod knows how to play the double bass to perfection. No just above the bottom of Rickie Lee Jones "easy money" bass walk, but the whole thing down to feeling it in your chest.

I'll give more of a write up in a bit.

Thank you for reading our threads on the forum. Listeners have been asking about our custom fit Harp platforms! The ones we design now are much different from the ones you saw at Harry Pearson's. The Platform's at TAS were general designs based on the Clamp-Rak. Since then we have been working more closely with particular products and their vibratory codes. We can design the entire machine room down to Earth or as far as you wish to take the transfer. For larger components I recommend the Harp for maximum control and custom fitting.

http://tuneland.techno-zone.net/t71-mga-platforms-racks-and-amp-stands

Let us know which components and or speakers you have and we'll point you to our recommendations. We will try to get some of these out to the tradeshows this year, and hopefully a fair display at our TuneLand Vegas.

More pictures and drawings will be posted as soon as Coop is back from his current tour.

thanks for your interest

Hi Listeners

Here are some updates.

Custom Amp Stands

You've been asking about specific Amps and the answer is Yes. All you need to do is give me the model number and picture, specs, measurements, if you don't mind, and we can design your MGA Custom Stands. Some have been sending me their amps to personally voice, but I'm going to have to take this as a first come first serve cause my place is getting full. To save time and money, if you pick one of the 3 design concepts I can customize it to your particular amp. The Harp is outstanding for the big boys, and I'm getting great feedback on the Harp TT design.

We have approved the voicing on the Purple Heart and Chocolate Walnut, to add to the mix.

TuneStrips

We have been getting a lot of request for TuneStrips and yes we will make them on a custom order basis. The new TunePak comes 4 CornerTunes, 2 EchoTunes, 4 XLT (12"x24"), but you can special order the TuneStrip if you wish. We realize a lot of you have these and would like to keep things consistent so no problem.

Mini Mods

The Mini Mods are shipping, but as with all the speakers they are hand voiced so there is a waiting list. We're running 6 to 8 weeks, Which is a whole lot better than last year lol.

On the Mini Mod, I have decided to make an all glued cabinet moving away from the screwed on front. The blend of wood turned out beautiful. The Mini Mod has moved from a mod to a serious listening tool.

thanks, for being part of the tune

Since posting on the Stereophile forums we have been asked about our TT Stands and will I be doing any custom tables as in the past?

The answer is really up to the listeners, but yes we have already started on the new TT stands which sound very nice. You may or may not know of our T-Table line up but among the tables we do, Music Hall, Audio Note, Euro Audio Team, Transrotor with other lines coming up as we find room.

in other news

We are working around the clock to offer as many sources as we can. Obviously we do Tables and CDP's but we are also looking into bringing back Reel 2 Reel and stream-line computer systems. As we become ready to take the orders we will let you know, but feel free to contact us on what we carry and what we plan to. Please keep in mind that we support the local dealers and our distribution teams, so if we do help you, you still might be making your actual purchase through one of our outlets.

It's all about getting you the best service possible.

thanks

Hi Readers

On-line catalog's are being updated as we speak around the world for fall listening season. We're happy to be a part of the fun. I will try to get up as many client and product photos as I can on TuneLand for you to view. As you see the products show up at your favorite dealers and distributors keep in mind that on TuneLand I will be happy to work with you personally on your own system thread. You can keep buying from your outlets and you will still get the attention you deserve just like all the TuneLand members. Your threads are great advertising for us, so voicing your systems on-line is a good deal for us as well as you. We still do the private consulting and visits and you can call about those. This summer we're fairly booked on out going personal visits. When you call Harold you can ask about the scheduling 608 208 3536.

PZC's (Pressure Zone Controllers) Tunable Acoustic Treatments

The PZC's are taking off again after the production move and re-boot. We've added Brazilian Pine to the wood choices and they look fantastic! What I would recommend is looking through the listeners threads and see how people are converting their spaces into finely tuned instruments.

TuneLand wants to thank the members of Stereophile for a great year! Can't believe it has gone by so quickly. We're looking forward to 2016 as we bring my latest designs to the hobbyist. Response to the newer products have been exceptional, and I want to say how much fun it has been being a part of so many audio systems.

I'll be putting posts & links up on this thread to TuneLand so you can explore the different fun topics and industry updates.

Hope everyone has the best Christmas ever!
