Hi Justlog.
Thanks for joining the forum and thanks for reading Stereophile! As I read your post, the speaker that immediately came to mind was the Audioengine A2, and I see that it's one of the speakers you're considering. I think it would be a fine choice. I know many people, including our own editor John Atkinson, who use the A2s with their TVs.
I'm not familiar with the Microlabs, however.
Good luck!
Hey there! thanks for the commment.
I guess I'll have to add a Sub-woofer to the equation wouldn't I?
And by the way, I don't need to add any amp to the setup right?
I also use the Audioengine A2 speakers for my PC and they are very good.
They have built-in amplifiers, so you don't need anything else.
I do use a Sony subwoofer with them , which you can just connect to the RCA jacks on the back of the left speaker, using a Y-connector as needed.
You MUST have analog audio output jacks on your TV, which are becoming much less common.
If you don't have them , you can get an inexpensive converter to convert the optical digital audio output of the TV to the analog signals.
Amazon lists several for under $25.
Thanks for the reply!
So wait I connect the audioengines into a subwoofer with a rca to analog connector and from the 3.5 jack on the audioengine to my tv?
And I have one "Digital audio output(Optical)" on my tv and one output just named "Audio Out". I guess I have to connect the audioengine's to the Audio out?
