 I've had some bad rooms too , but I never let it detract from my enjoyment of music .

...have a responsibility toward the companies of the products they review.  He could easily smooth out his room's bass response with traps, like other reviewers, but chooses not to for snobbish reasons.

  I'm with Art on the subect of traps etc . They can help fine tune your room but most are just to god awful looking . There fine in a studio but not in ones home . 

  I mostly use natural room tunes with excellent results .

Unless you are fortunate enough to have a listening room with naturally good acoustics, some sort of bass trapping and absorption of early reflections will probably be required if you want to optimize the sound. Personally, I would love to see the waterfall plots for the in-room measurements that JA has performed. It would be very interesting to see the time-domain behavior of the reviewer's rooms.
