if you use the turntable's USB output to connect to an iMac USB port.
Otherwise, you would use the first converter you showed. The coax digital to optical digital converter. Hey jackfish finally got around to connecting everything up. Still no luck. I was always able to record vinyl via USB port but I was never able to hear what I was recording. I was hoping this converter would be the trick. I configured my 'Audio MIDI Setup' > 'Built-In Input' to 'Use this devide for sound input' but still not hearing any output through the speakers while playing a record. Any other suggestions?
You should be able to select the turntable as a device in Audio MIDI Setup. Something like "USB Audio Codec." Are you using Audacity in the Mac? Is there a "play through" or "pass through" button in Audacity?
