I'd look for an A/B amplifier with a large toroidal transformer(s) and substantial filter capacitance.
Anthem 225 Integrated
NAD C375BEE
Musical Fidelity M6i
Arcam FMJ A38
You could can get 2 Emotiva XPA-1 mono block for $850 (each), and the USP-1 preamp for $369. That is right at $2000. Not sure if that works....lot of weight and size. The XPA-1s would give a solid foundation.
You could also do the XSP-1 reference preamp ($900) with an XPA-2 ($700) and be well under $2000. This XSP-1/XPA-2 combination would be really nice with the Maggies.
I own Maggie 1.6s, by the way.
I own Magnestand MMGs with Emotiva UPA-1s and an Emotiva USP-1 upstream.
Emotiva XPA-1s would control Magnepan 3.6s famously. Might be hard to find or get in Israel though.
Jut got connected a set of Audible Illusions 3 + Conrad Johnson MF 2200. Combination sounds good to me, but than again, i didn't try much else yet. Would appriciate any comments on this combination with the Magnemaps 3.6
Also, any idea whats a fair price for these?
