You will probably have some diffieculty finding what you're looking for at the price you mentioned. Most integrated aplifiers don't have dedicated HDMI inputs so this restricts your options to receivers. 100WPC is what many suggest you need to make MMG's "come alive".  Unfortunately most receivers in your price range don't have enough power to adequately drive MMG's. You could try a receiver that allows you to add a power amplifier with enough power for the Maggies. If you're willing to accept that a receiver may be inadaquate (power wise) I suggest the Marantz NR 1403. It has preamp level outputs for the front channels to allow the use of an external power amp. It also has five HDMI inputs..

Thanks for the input. I also spotted the Marantz after some time - does anybody have suggestions for what amp would fit that and the MMGs well? Obviously the original price range might not apply, but I'd still like to keep the net cost down.

Any amplifier of receiver with enough output power will work fine. There are many variables that determine how much amplifier power one actually needs. I suggested 100WPC because that's a figure many MMG owners say is required. You may find less than that adequate or you may want/need more, it depends. One of the major reasons I suggested that particular receiver was because it allows the separation of the front preamp and power amp sections. Most of them in this price range don't. This allows you to add (if needed) a more powerful power amplifier to use in place of the one built into the receiver for the front speakers. Of course, you would use the other internal amplifiers to drive the other speakers.
